EVENINGS OF STORYTELLING
Please join Kingsley House from 6 pm - 7 pm on the nights of October 2nd, 9th, 23rd and 31st for storytelling in the clubhouse.

Vanora Fraklin Legaux, The Storyteller will prepare and present a series of folktales at Columbia Parc that engage children and parents, solicit interaction and participation, and reinforce the National Standards in language arts. This will definitely be an enjoyable experience for the children and parents in attendance.

For more information about Ms. Franklin Legaux, visit her website.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME
Join us on the front lawn on the evening of October 16th, from 5 pm to 7 pm, as we come together with members of the criminal justice system to promote crime prevention awareness and programs. There will be lots of games, music, food, and prizes!
HAPPY HALLOWEEEN
All of us at Columbia Parc hope that our residents will have a fun and safe Halloween! Kingsley House will be giving out candy at the storytelling, and children are encouraged to dress up!

BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK
Bayou District Foundation, in partnership with Blessings in a Backpack and the Fore!Kids Foundation/Zurich Classic of New Orleans, helped kick off the Blessings in a  Backpack program at Akili Academy.

One of Bayou District Foundation’s partner schools, Akili Academy is a highly ranked K-5 charter school located about 10 blocks from Columbia Parc on Pratt Drive. Through this program, Akili students will receive a backpack of fresh food every Friday afternoon during the school year.

Harrah’s and Zuppardos are assisting with the program, which will run through 2013 with the hopes of expansion to other schools in the region.
