Bayou District NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS
SUMMER’S COMING
With summer comes the heat, so kids of all ages at Columbia Parc will be enjoying refreshing dips in our resort-style pool and playing at the interactive, poolside splash park. Our 45,000 gallon salt-water pool is one of the best ways to beat the heat!

Another option for kids is the Cops for Kids Summer Camp. This 6-week program is offered at St. Bernard NORDC Center and begins Monday, June 6th for kids ages 5-13. For a small fee, campers will enjoy swimming lessons, fun physical activities, hands-on nutrition lessons, fun literacy and math lessons, as well as daily interaction with police officers. Registration is open until April 30th or until all the spaces are filled. Contact Vic Richard at 504-658-3000 for more information.
MUSIC TO OUR EARS
The 2011 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival begins this weekend, and lucky Columbia Parc residents are within walking distance of the Gentilly Blvd entrance of the Fairgrounds and Racetrack.

AND THE WINNER IS...
Columbia Parc has earned another award for community development. Sponsored by the Tax Credit Coalition, the 2011 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award will be presented at a Capitol Hill ceremony in Washington, DC in May. Columbia Parc was judged the winner in the Public Housing Revitalization category based on its location, supportive services, unique design features and amenities, community support, and green building technology. This is yet another reason residents can be proud to call Columbia Parc their home.

BDF is proud to announce it will be hosting its 2nd Annual Rock N’ Bowl fundraising event on Sunday, July 17, 2011, once again presented by Acme Oyster House and King Creole. Last year’s fundraiser, with more than 400 guests, brought in more than $25,000 for the Bayou District Foundation. Building on last year’s success, we hope to raise $50,000 to support the foundation and its many ongoing projects. Both team and individual tickets will be available for purchase. Keep an eye out for updates!
