In a May 2nd article posted on the Forbes magazine website, New Orleans is ranked number two on its list of best big cities for jobs. This is a huge jump from #48 on last year's list. Jobs created by rebuilding and tourism have grown 3.5%. Columbia Parc is proud to be a small part of this revival, which is helping New Orleans find its place again among America's great cities.

Columbia Parc was designed and built to provide you with an energy efficient home that would help you save on utility costs. Here are a few more ways you can make your energy dollar stretch this summer:

  • Take advantage of our BBQ grill stations instead of cooking inside.
  • Push a button to wash dishes. The dishwasher uses less water than washing and rinsing in the sink. For bonus savings, let dishes dry with air instead of heat.
  • When you do use your dishwasher, washer, and dryer, try to avoid the peak hours of 4:00 pm — 6:00 pm.
  • Set the thermostat to 78 degrees and use your ceiling fans to circulate cool air.
  • Know what you want before you open the refrigerator. The less time the door is open, the less it has to work to keep your food and drinks cool.
  • Get in the habit of turning off lights when you leave a room.
  • Enjoy cool and refreshing summer drinks like one of our favorites – the June Bug!

    3 cups ginger ale
    1/4 cup grenadine
    1/4 cup orange juice
    3 scoops orange sherbet
Blend all ingredients and pour into iced glasses.
    Makes 4 servings.
