ONE YEAR COMMEMORATION CELEBRATION
LEED-ING THE WAY

Bayou District NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS

One Year Commemoration Celebration
On March 18th, Columbia Parc hosted the Partners at the Parc event to recognize and celebrate the individuals and organizations that are making the vision of Columbia Parc a reality. Speakers included Councilmember Cynthia Hedge-Morrell, officials from Louisiana and New Orleans housing agencies, resident Lawianiea Penns, and Columbia Residential president, Jim Grauley.

Long before the official groundbreaking in December 2008, and continuing through current and future expansion phases, this group of architects, builders, community leaders, construction managers, designers, developers, engineers, lenders, and supporters became unified in their passion to help us realize the promise of Columbia Parc as the root of living well.

The next day, the lawn was reset for Party at the Parc. The mild, sunny day was the perfect backdrop to an afternoon filled with music and fun. Residents celebrated with a picnic, bounce house, face painting, and raffle prizes. There was even a special area reserved for our four-legged neighbors, complete with their own water bowls and treats. This event was dedicated to our residents to celebrate that they are the reason Columbia Parc is so much more than its apartment homes. It truly is a community.

NDF was established in September 1986 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with seed money provided through the John M. and Holley Pavy DeBlois Foundation, an organization founded on the belief that decent affordable housing is essential to the physical and emotional health, productivity and self-esteem of an individual. Over the past 25 years the Neighborhood Development Foundation has created 2,500 aspiring homeowners. With a dedicated staff and a best-practice training program, NDF converts life-long renters with modest resources and ready houses into entire neighborhoods of new homeowners.
